Pre-Departure Training for Workers Being Deployed to South Korea

Working abroad involves more than simply preparing documents and arranging worker placement. For Soukchay, it also means preparing workers physically, mentally, linguistically, and with essential life skills. We place strong emphasis on comprehensive pre-departure training to ensure that every Soukchay worker is prepared to adapt, work effectively and safely, and achieve success in the destination country.

All workers scheduled for deployment must complete training at Soukchay Employment Service’s standardized training center, equipped with comprehensive facilities, modern classrooms, clean accommodation, and a safe support system.

For workers preparing to travel to South Korea for seasonal employment, they are required to attend training at the company’s training center to ensure they are fully prepared in various areas. The training center admission and preparation process consists of the following steps:

Step 1: Bank Application Installation and Usage Guidance

All workers are required to install the banking application used by the company. This application enables workers to monitor and check their own account balances, including funds transferred monthly from South Korea back to the Lao PDR.

For returning workers who already have the company’s banking application installed, their accounts must be checked and the system updated with company staff to prevent technical issues or loss of access while working abroad.

Step 2: Pre-Departure Photograph

Workers will have their photographs taken before departure so that the photographs can be readily used for required documentation upon arrival in South Korea.

Step 3: Drug Screening and Pregnancy Testing (Female Workers)

All workers are required to undergo drug screening, while female workers are also required to undergo pregnancy testing. Company staff stationed at the training center will oversee these procedures before departure to help ensure that there are no issues or unexpected findings upon arrival in South Korea.

Step 4: Distribution of Uniforms and Equipment

Training center staff will distribute the uniforms that workers are required to wear on the day of departure, in accordance with the regulations of the Department of Employment, Ministry of Labour and Social Welfare.

Step 5: Essential Training for Living and Working Abroad

Workers will receive training on essential topics related to living and working in South Korea, including:

1. Information about seasonal employment
2. Korean culture, customs, traditions, and regulations
3. Adaptation to the environment and essential information after arriving in South Korea
4. Safe procedures for transferring money back to Laos and making loan repayments
5. Basic Korean language training for daily life and the workplace

Step 6: Loan Approval and Health Examination Fee Reimbursement

For workers who do not have sufficient funds to cover document processing expenses and choose to obtain a loan from the company, staff will clearly explain the terms, conditions, details, and approved loan amount in a transparent manner. The company will also process the reimbursement of health examination fees to workers in accordance with the applicable requirements.

Step 7: Travel Baggage Inspection and Weighing

All workers are required to bring their luggage to the training center for weighing and inspection before departure. This ensures proper preparation and helps prevent excess baggage issues before proceeding to Wattay International Airport for the flight to South Korea.

Step 8: Distribution of Travel Documents

On the day of departure, company staff will distribute passports and visa documents to all workers, ensuring that each worker receives all required travel documents.

Step 9: Organized Transportation from the Training Center to the Airport

For safety and orderly travel, all workers are required to travel to the airport using the transportation arranged by the company.

In addition to the procedures outlined above, Soukchay Employment Service also provides the following welfare benefits and services during workers’ stay at the training center:

1. Transportation Service: Free transportation between accommodation and the training center.

2. Accommodation Service: Free accommodation that is comfortable, clean, and safe.

3. Food and Drinking Water Service: Free provision of clean, hygienic meals and drinking water throughout the training period.

4. Airport Transportation Service: Standard transportation service to safely transport all workers to Wattay International Airport.

Soukchay Skills Development Center Sole Co., Ltd. is one of the key businesses under the “Soukchay Group,” established to support and implement the policies of the Party and Government in building and developing a modern, highly skilled Lao workforce.

We are committed to serving as a central platform for enhancing workforce capabilities, creating employment opportunities, and promoting stable career development with sustainable income for Lao workers across the country.

To support the growth of the labor market, the company has established strategic cooperation plans with both domestic and international partners as follows:

1. Cooperation in Training and Workforce Placement

We cooperate with contractual partners nationwide to provide vocational training at Soukchay Skills Development Center. Our training programs are designed to align closely with the needs of the industrial sector and the actual labor market.

Upon completion of their training, trainees will be placed in employment in partner countries according to the agreed timelines, training programs, and employment arrangements.

2. Cooperation with Foreign Investors

We seek to attract foreign investors to invest in industries and related sectors in the Lao PDR, with Soukchay Skills Development Center serving as a starting point for establishing a workforce development system that is directly connected to the industrial sector while simultaneously supporting human resource development.

At present, one of the major challenges is that many graduates still lack practical skills. This requires employers to invest additional time and resources in retraining, contributing to unemployment and employment below the required standards.

The goal of Soukchay Skills Development Center is:

“To integrate vocational training with the industrial sector in every aspect, enabling trainees to learn and gain practical experience through real-world practice and transition directly into the labor market upon completion of their training.”

1. Building Practical Experience

Learners will receive both theoretical knowledge and hands-on practical training. They will gain an understanding of technology, production processes, and workplace culture while still studying, reducing the need to start from the beginning when they enter the workforce.

2. Enhancing Trainer Skills

Trainer development is a key factor in delivering high-quality knowledge and skills. Trainers will continuously have access to professional development programs and modern technologies to enhance their teaching capabilities and ensure the highest possible quality of training.

The establishment of these foundations will help ensure that Lao workers possess the skills necessary to support the expansion of the industrial sector. It will also support the Government’s efforts to develop a people-centered economy and create sustainable employment opportunities with good incomes for Lao youth.

Soukchay Skills Development Center is committed to enhancing skills and developing the Lao workforce to meet modern industrial standards at the international level.
